Uncamouflaged Next-Gen Skoda Kodiaq Spotted in India
After its global debut in October 2023, the second-generation Skoda Kodiaq has been spied testing on Indian roads for the first time. This could be a sign that the car is nearing its launch in the Indian market.
Unveiled Kodiaq Gets Spotted in India: New Design Details Emerge
Recent spy shots captured the all-new Skoda Kodiaq completely undisguised during testing in India. Compared to the previous version, this next-gen model boasts a slightly larger size. Visually, it features bolder design elements like squared-off wheel arches, a more prominent hexagonal grille, and a sculpted hood. The redesigned Skoda logo and fresh alloy wheels add a modern touch. Updates extend to the headlights, while the rear showcases stylish C-shaped wraparound taillights that proudly display the Skoda lettering. The presence of a front radar hints at the inclusion of advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) for enhanced safety.
Interior Likely Inspired by European Model
Though the spy shots didn’t capture the interior, it’s expected to closely resemble the European version of the Kodiaq. The cabin will likely be dominated by a large, 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system that acts as the central hub for most vehicle functions. Additionally, the Kodiaq might feature a fully digital instrument cluster alongside a unique trio of physical “smart dials.” These dials are rotary knobs with built-in color displays. The two outer dials control the climate controls for both driver and passengers, while the central dial can be customized for functions like infotainment volume, driving mode selection, map zoom, and air conditioning adjustments.
Engine Options and Possible Upgrades
The next-generation Kodiaq is likely to retain the familiar 2.0-liter, four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine from its predecessor. This engine currently delivers 190 horsepower and 320 Nm of torque. However, there’s a chance it might be offered in a more powerful configuration for the new model. The engine is expected to be paired with the same 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and continue to send power to all four wheels via all-wheel drive.

Price and Competitors: Anticipated Increase and Familiar Rivals
The current Skoda Kodiaq comes in a single, top-of-the-line L&K trim priced at Rs 39.99 lakh (ex-showroom). With the new features and upgrades, the next-gen Kodiaq’s launch is expected to see a price bump. Despite the anticipation of a higher price tag, the Kodiaq is likely to hold its ground against established competitors like the Jeep Meridian, MG Gloster, and Toyota Fortuner when it launches sometime next year.
