Tesla Model Y facelift revealed with a 719km range.

The facelifted Tesla Model Y has been launched in select Asian markets and special administrative regions, featuring updates across the board, particularly in range, which now stands at 719 km (CLTC estimate).

Tesla’s Australia and New Zealand websites also showcase the updated EV, with delivery timelines in these regions projected between March and June.

The refresh applies only to the Long Range AWD and RWD variants.
Known as Project Juniper, the updated Model Y is 47mm longer than its predecessor.

Initial deliveries will commence in China, one of the leading EV markets globally, while other regions, including North and South America, Europe, and the Middle East, continue to offer the pre-facelift Model Y.

In January 2024, the Tesla Model Y was named the world’s best-selling vehicle, with estimated sales of 1.23 million units.

The 2025 Tesla Model Y measures 4,797mm in length, making it 47mm longer than the pre-facelift version, while its width is slightly reduced by 1mm, now measuring 1,624mm. The vehicle’s drag coefficient (Cd) has improved from 0.23 to 0.22, enhancing the range and reducing wind noise.

This update introduces Tesla’s latest design language, featuring a connected light strip similar to the Cybercab Robotaxi. The front is almost entirely sealed, except for the air dam, and the side door handles are electrically operated and seamlessly integrated into the doors for better aerodynamics.

For optimal range, the standard 19-inch alloy wheels are recommended, though 20-inch wheels are available as an option, albeit less efficient. At the rear, the LED light treatment spans the width, complemented by a chunkier bumper for a refreshed look.

Tesla is offering the Model Y in up to six color options, including Pure Black (exclusive to Taiwan), Starry Grey, Pearl White, Glacier Blue, Flame Red, and Quicksilver. The names and availability of these shades vary across the Asian markets where the Model Y is sold.

The interior of the facelifted Tesla Model Y features subtle updates to materials and equipment. A streamlined dashboard design centers around a 15.5-inch touchscreen, which houses all major controls and runs an upgraded operating system.

The front seats now include ventilation and are upholstered with new fabric. For rear passengers, Tesla has added an 8-inch touchscreen, mounted behind the front center armrest, allowing access to games and climate controls.

While the exact boot capacity hasn’t been disclosed, the five-seater EV offers over 2,130 liters of storage space with the rear seats folded down, up from the previous 2,041 liters.

The Tesla Model Y’s monocoque body frame has been designed to improve impact absorption in the event of a crash. Advanced driver assistance systems handle autonomous driving, featuring hardware such as a front autopilot camera and blind spot monitoring lights in the side mirrors. The touchscreen, which supports over-the-air (OTA) updates, also shows lane change animations during self-driving mode. The Model Y comes with a standard Basic autopilot package, with optional upgrades for the Enhanced and Full Driving bundles.

As previously mentioned, only the Long Range AWD and RWD variants of the Model Y have been updated so far. These versions offer claimed ranges of up to 719 km and 662 km per charge, respectively, according to the China Light-Duty Vehicle Test Cycle (CLTC). This marks an increase of 117 km and 59 km compared to the previous Model Y.

The acceleration has also improved, with the AWD variant now reaching 0 to 100 km/h in 4.3 seconds, 0.5 seconds faster, while the single-motor version is 0.6 seconds quicker, taking 5.9 seconds to achieve the 100 km/h mark. The peak charging speed remains at 250 kW, enabling up to 266 km of range to be added in just 15 minutes.
