Tata Motors confirmed the launch of a CNG option for Nexon SUV
This year, Tata Motors is adding a CNG option to their popular Nexon SUV.
They showed a near-final version (called the Nexon iCNG concept) at an auto expo in 2024.
This will be the first car in India with a turbocharged CNG engine.
It’ll directly compete with the Maruti Brezza CNG.
The CNG Nexon will look almost identical to the regular Nexon inside and out, with minor changes like suspension tweaks and badges.
The Tata Nexon CNG will keep the same 1.2-liter turbocharged 3-cylinder engine found in the petrol models. This makes it the first CNG car in India with a turbo engine!
Tata Motors just added automatic (AMT) transmissions to their Tiago and Tigor CNG models. It’s unclear yet if the Nexon CNG will also get this option. Once available, the Nexon will be unique in India. It’ll be the only car to offer petrol, diesel, CNG (with manual or possibly automatic options), and even a fully electric version! This CNG Nexon will directly compete with the Maruti Brezza CNG in India.
