Tata Altroz Facelift Previewed Before May 22 Release.
Tata Motors has unveiled a teaser for the upcoming facelift of the Altroz, with its official price announcement scheduled for May 22. Since its debut in January 2020, the Altroz has received updates in terms of engine options and features, but this will be its first major visual upgrade. Along with a refreshed exterior design, the hatchback is also set to gain new interior features, though its core mechanicals are expected to remain unchanged.
Tata Altroz Facelift: Bold New Design, Smarter Features Ahead of Launch
Tata Motors is all set to unveil the refreshed Altroz, with a price announcement scheduled for May 22. While the premium hatchback will retain its current engine lineup, the facelift brings a significant visual overhaul and upgraded tech features.
Redesigned Front & Rear
The Altroz facelift gets a sharper front with full-LED split headlamps, a bold LED DRL strip, a reworked bumper with vertical fog lamp housings, and a new, sportier grille design.
At the back, the hatch gets sharp LED tail-lights with a unique T-shaped motif, now connected by an LED light bar. A dual-tone rear bumper enhances the sporty aesthetic, while the new flush-type illuminated door handles add a premium touch. The alloy wheels get a modern redesign, inspired by EV styling, and fresh color options are likely to join the palette.
Interior Upgrades on the Horizon
Although Tata hasn’t officially revealed the interior, it’s expected that the facelift will bring a revamped dashboard, new soft-touch elements, and updated upholstery shades. A larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system—previously reserved for the Racer variant—will now be offered on more trims. Additional upgrades include a 360-degree surround view camera and a new digital instrument cluster.
No Mechanical Changes Expected
Despite the cosmetic and feature enhancements, the Altroz will likely continue with its existing five powertrain configurations, offering familiar performance with a fresh new look.

Altroz Facelift: Engine Options Unchanged
The Altroz will continue with five engine choices—an 88hp petrol (manual & DCT), a 73.5hp CNG, a 90hp diesel (manual only), and the 120hp turbo-petrol in the Racer variant with a 6-speed manual. No mechanical changes are expected in the facelift.

What sets the Altroz apart in today’s market is its diesel variant—making it the only hatchback in India still available with a diesel engine, giving it a unique edge in the segment.
Facelift Comes at a Crucial Time for Hatchbacks
The launch of the refreshed Altroz comes as hatchbacks continue to lose traction against the rising popularity of compact SUVs. The Altroz, which once recorded monthly sales of up to 5,000 units during FY2021-22, now averages around 2,000 units. With updated styling and new tech features, Tata is aiming to reignite interest in the model. Once launched, the facelifted Altroz will continue to take on strong contenders like the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, and Toyota Glanza.
