Renault Unveils All-New Grand Koleos SUV

Debuting at the 2024 Busan Motor Show, the Grand Koleos joins the mid-size SUV segment, similar in size to the Tata Safari.

Hybrid Power: Renault equips the Grand Koleos with a modern hybrid system, combining a gasoline engine with electric motors for efficiency and power.

Techy Inside: The Grand Koleos boasts a cutting-edge interior featuring multiple screens, likely for the instrument cluster, infotainment system, and climate controls.

The Grand Koleos isn’t your typical Renault. Developed under the codename “Aurora 1,” it’s specifically designed for the Korean market by Renault’s Korean branch, which is partly owned by Geely.

Shared Tech: The Grand Koleos rides on the same platform (CMA) as the Geely Xingyue L SUV, suggesting some shared components under the hood.

Hybrid Power: Renault equips the Grand Koleos with a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine paired with an electric motor for a hybrid powertrain.

The Grand Koleos marks the beginning of a closer partnership between Renault and Geely. They’ve formed a joint venture called HORSE Powertrain Limited to develop and build hybrid powertrain components, including batteries. This collaboration extends beyond the Grand Koleos, with plans for several future SUVs co-developed by both brands.

Shared Architecture: The Grand Koleos utilizes Geely’s CMA platform, which is also used in popular SUVs like the Volvo XC40 and various Lynk & Co models. This shared platform suggests potential component sharing and economies of scale for both Renault and Geely.

The Renault Grand Koleos takes inspiration from the Geely Xingyue L SUV but with a twist for Korean tastes. While they share the same platform and most body parts, Renault gives the Grand Koleos a unique look with a fresh grille, new alloy wheels, and distinct front and rear bumpers.

Inside, the Grand Koleos goes all-in on tech with a trio of 12.3-inch screens! One handles the instrument cluster, another serves as the central infotainment hub and a third screen keeps the front passenger entertained. To elevate the cabin experience, Renault throws in a panoramic sunroof, plush leather seats, and decorative touches with wood and faux aluminum trim.

Here’s a quick rundown of the Grand Koleos’ tech highlights:

  • Triple Threat Screens: Three 12.3-inch displays for instrumentation, infotainment, and the front passenger.
  • 5G Connectivity: Stay connected and experience super-fast download speeds.
  • Over-the-Air (OTA) Updates: Get the latest software updates without visiting a dealership.

  • The Grand Koleos gets its muscle from a 1.5-liter turbocharged gasoline engine working alongside a twin-motor hybrid system for a combined output of 245 horsepower. Multiple drive modes and terrain settings allow you to optimize performance for different road conditions.
  • India Availability: While Renault previously offered the Koleos in India, the Grand Koleos will likely stay exclusive to the Korean market for now. Instead, Renault plans to launch the Duster and Bigster SUVs in India next year. They’ll also be refreshing their existing lineup and introducing a sporty Kiger variant.
