Nissan’s New 7-Seater SUV Set to Arrive by FY2026.
Nissan’s New SUV: Positioning and Naming
Nissan’s upcoming SUV is set to be positioned above the discontinued Terrano, targeting the midsize SUV segment and competitors like the Hyundai Creta. The Terrano name will likely be replaced with a new moniker. Additionally, a 7-seater variant is expected to arrive by the close of FY2026.
What to Expect:
A design silhouette inspired by the new Renault Duster
A cabin layout with familiar elements, but likely more premium features
A turbocharged petrol engine paired with an automatic gearbox
The launch is part of Nissan’s broader strategy to strengthen its presence in India while aligning with its global revival roadmap.
Nissan’s Upcoming SUV: What Sets It Apart
Nissan’s new SUV, built on the same platform as the next-gen Renault Duster, will feature distinct styling like slimmer LED headlamps, a horizontal-slat grille, bold C-shaped cladding on the bumpers, sculpted bonnet lines, and uniquely designed alloy wheels. Since the teaser shows a concept, the final version may have some toned-down details.
Interior & Features
The cabin is expected to mirror the Duster’s layout but with a touch of Nissan’s own design. Top trims may include a 10.1-inch infotainment screen, a 7-inch digital cluster, rear AC vents, a 360-degree camera, automatic climate control, and drive modes. While ADAS is seen globally, its India debut is still uncertain.

Engine and Transmission
The new Nissan SUV will be powered by a 1.3L turbo-petrol engine, generating 154hp and 250Nm of torque, paired with a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission. It is still unclear whether India will receive a manual variant or an all-wheel-drive option.
New Nissan SUV: Name & Positioning
Nissan’s upcoming SUV will sit above the discontinued Terrano in the midsize SUV segment, taking on rivals like the Hyundai Creta. The Terrano name is unlikely to return, with a fresh badge expected. A 7-seater model is also expected, with plans for its launch by the end of FY2026.
