Mercedes approves new cars, SUV begins in 2024
In a move to capitalize on strong sales and dealership growth, Mercedes-Benz India has unveiled an ambitious launch schedule for 2024. Nine new vehicles are expected to hit the Indian market this year, including two high-performance AMG models and a significant expansion of their electric vehicle offerings.
The Mercedes-AMG S 63 e-Performance and C 63 S e-Performance are two exciting hybrid performance models unveiled by Mercedes-AMG in late 2022. These AMG variants boast next-generation technology derived from Formula 1 based on their respective latest-gen S-Class and C-Class counterparts.
- C 63 S e-Performance: This powerhouse packs a combined system output of 680 horsepower and a staggering 1,020 Nm of torque. This ferocious output comes courtesy of a combination of a 476 horsepower 2.0-liter turbocharged gasoline engine and a 204 horsepower electric motor powered by a 6.1 kWh battery.
- Mercedes-AMG S 63 e-Performance
- This high-performance plug-in hybrid takes luxury and power to a new level. It boasts an updated version of the powerful twin-turbocharged 4.0-liter V8 petrol engine, paired with a rear-axle-mounted asynchronous electric motor powered by a substantial 13.1 kWh lithium-ion battery. This combination cranks out a whopping 802 horsepower and a staggering 1,430 Nm of torque.
- In comparison, the C 63 S e-Performance we discussed earlier offers 680 horsepower and 1,020 Nm of torque. That means the S 63 e-Performance delivers even more awe-inspiring performance.
Design and specifications:
- Both AMG models get all the AMG-specific design cues inside and out, including aerodynamic changes and unique infotainment settings.
- They also come with a 9-speed automatic transmission and the 4Matic+ all-wheel-drive system.
Additional Mercedes models:
- Besides these two high-performance plug-in hybrids (TEVs) exceeding Rs 1.5 crore, Mercedes will be bringing two more models to that segment before June 2024.
E-class and Electric Vehicle Debuts
The Mercedes-Benz launch plan for 2024 includes the highly anticipated arrival of the all-new E-Class, albeit with a slight delay. Here’s a breakdown:
- All-New E-Class: While the new E-Class will hit Indian shores before the end of 2024, there might be a temporary gap in its availability as only the long-wheelbase (LWB) version is confirmed for launch.
- Electric Vehicle Expansion: Mercedes is committed to expanding its electric vehicle (EV) portfolio in India. Three new EVs are planned for release this year, with one potentially being the luxurious Maybach EQS.
