Mahindra Thar EV: Mahindra Thar is going electric! The company has confirmed that it will be unveiling a fully-electric version of the popular SUV on August 15, 2023.
The Thar EV is expected to be priced higher than the petrol and diesel variants of the Thar, but it is likely to be more affordable than other electric SUVs in the market. Mahindra is targeting a starting price of around Rs 14.99 lakh for the Thar EV.
Off-road enthusiasts will love the Thar EV. Consumers are likely to welcome the electric version of the well-known and respected SUV in India, the Thar.
The Thar EV is still a ways off, but it will be interesting to see if Mahindra can retain its off-road capabilities. The Thar’s retro appeal is a major factor in its popularity. Will the Thar Electric maintain this aesthetic?
Although, Mahindra offers the Thar with a 2.2-liter Mahindra Thar engine. Mahindra calls its engine the Thar engine, not the mHawk.

Mahindra has not yet released any details about the Thar EV’s powertrain, but it is likely to be based on the same technology as the XUV400 EV, which is currently the only fully-electric SUV in Mahindra’s lineup. The XUV400 EV has a 147.5 bhp electric motor and a 39.4 kWh battery pack, which gives it a claimed range of 456 km.
The Thar EV is a major step for Mahindra’s EV expansion. Mahindra has announced plans to launch several new EVs, including the eKUV100, eXUV300 and also eXUV700.
