Maruti Suzuki will offer free home installation of EV chargers as part of its initiative. The company plans to export its electric vehicles from India to over 100 countries. Production of the e Vitara SUV is set to begin in a few months at Maruti Suzuki’s Gujarat plant, which will also manufacture and export the Toyota Urban Cruiser EV. From India, Suzuki will export to more than 100 countries and focus on building a comprehensive Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) ecosystem in India. This ecosystem will ensure customers feel confident and comfortable when choosing BEVs.
In addition to scaling production, Suzuki will expand its charging network through the ‘e for me’ initiative, starting with fast-charging stations in the top 100 cities, with plans to extend this to other cities. Hisashi Takeuchi, CEO and MD of Maruti Suzuki, mentioned that the goal is to have charging points every 5-10 kilometers within these cities. The company is also setting up over 1,500 EV-enabled service workshops across 1,000 cities, offering free home charger installations to buyers.
