Fiat unveils Grande Panda, a new SUV built

Fiat unveils Grande Panda, a new SUV built on the same platform as the Citroen C3.

Fiat introduced the all-new Grande Panda, the successor to the popular Panda model.

This bigger, bolder SUV boasts a fresh design that pays homage to the classic Panda and offers two engine choices.

Replacing the classic Panda, the Grande Panda is a larger SUV.

It shares a platform with the Citroen C3, allowing gasoline and electric engines.

  • Retro with a twist: The design stays true to the boxy look of the Panda but with modern touches like pixel headlights inspired by a historic Fiat factory.

This blocky style will be a signature for future Panda models.

Fiat uses oval shapes throughout the design, possibly referencing the famous rooftop track on their historic factory. They’re also focusing on making the car lighter and more affordable, which should create a roomier feel inside.

The Grande Panda keeps the classic Panda’s utilitarian vibe with features like a skid plate,

roof rails, and black cladding. While inspired by the original 4×4 Panda, there’s no word yet on a four-wheel-drive version of the Grande Panda.

At 3.99 meters long, the Grande Panda is 0.3 meters longer than the previous Panda. Even with this increase, Fiat assures it remains compact, fitting comfortably within the B-segment standard.

Spaciousness under wraps: While details about the five-seater interior are still hidden, Fiat promises it will be well-suited for navigating city streets.

Engine choices for all: The Grande Panda will offer a variety of powertrains to suit different needs. You can choose between electric options with ranges of 200km and 327km (similar to those found in the Citroen C3), or a fuel-efficient 1.2-liter, 100-horsepower turbocharged gasoline engine with mild hybrid technology.

While the Grande Panda boasts a tough and nostalgic design, it’s set for a European launch first. Fiat hasn’t announced any plans to bring this SUV to India as of yet.

Fiat will keep making the current Panda, also known as the Pandina, in Europe until at least 2027.

  • Strong demand: Even after 13 years on the market, the Panda remains popular, so Fiat is increasing production by 20%.
  • Safety and tech refresh: To keep things exciting, Fiat is offering a slightly updated Panda with new safety features, an improved driver’s display, and a new steering wheel. This revamped version is said to be the “most technological and safest Panda ever” and is expected to launch this summer.
