Tata Motors announced at their investor presentation that they’ll be releasing both the Sierra EV and the first Avinya model in India during fiscal year 2026.

Tata’s electric future arrives in FY26. The company will launch the inaugural model from its Avinya premium EV brand.

Tata unveiled the Sierra EV concept at Auto Expo 2020, hinting at an electric SUV based on the Altroz platform. The initial concept sported a unique four-door design with dimensions of 4,150mm length, 1,820mm width, and 1,675mm height. Auto Expo 2023 showcased a more production-ready version with a conventional five-door layout.

It’s expected to utilize the brand’s Acti.EV architecture, similar to the Punch EV and Harrier EV, is likely built on Tata’s Gen2 EV platform. Design-wise, the Sierra EV is expected to retain iconic elements from the original 90s Sierra, including the curved rear windows, boxy wheel arches, and a high bonnet.

Tata Motors confirmed the launch of the first Avinya electric vehicle by the end of fiscal year 2026. This isn’t just one car, but the debut of a whole new premium electric brand under the Avinya name. Avinya will offer a range of SUVs and cars, built on a modified version of Jaguar Land Rover’s EMA platform to manage costs.

Details are scarce on the first Avinya model specifically. We don’t know its body style or specs yet, and it’s unclear if Tata and Avinya will be separate brands down the line. What’s confirmed is that all Avinya vehicles will be produced at a new, upcoming plant in Tamil Nadu. This Rs 9,000 crore facility might even manufacture Jaguar Land Rover EVs in the future.
