Hyundai unveils new Exter CNG with more cargo space, starting at Rs 8.50 lakh.
Hyundai introduced a new version of the Exter CNG in India that uses dual-cylinder technology. This is the first time Hyundai has offered this technology in a CNG car, and it makes Hyundai the second car manufacturer in India to provide this option, following Tata Motors.
The new dual-cylinder setup frees up more boot space compared to a single large CNG cylinder, but it also results in a price increase of Rs 7,000 for the Exter CNG.
Introducing the Hyundai Exter Hy-CNG Duo!
This new version of the Exter CNG boasts a significant upgrade: dual CNG cylinders. Unlike the previous single large cylinder, the Hy-CNG Duo uses two smaller ones. This clever design frees up valuable space in the boot for your luggage and gear.
Adding dual-cylinder technology to the Hyundai Exter CNG has increased the price by Rs 7,000 for both the S CNG and SX CNG variants. The good news is that the CNG version is also now available in the recently launched Knight edition, starting at Rs 9.38 lakh.
Under the Hood of the Exter CNG
The Exter CNG utilizes the same 1.2-liter, four-cylinder gasoline engine found in the standard model. However, when running on CNG, the power output drops to 69 horsepower and 95.2 Nm of torque. Transmission for the CNG variant is limited to a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Efficiency and Innovation
The biggest news with the Exter CNG is its impressive fuel efficiency. Hyundai claims a mileage of 27.1 kilometers per kilogram (km/kg) on CNG. Additionally, the Exter CNG is the first Hyundai car to adopt a dual-cylinder CNG setup, freeing up boot space compared to a single large cylinder. This technology is similar to what you’ll find in Tata vehicles like the Altroz, Tiago, and Tigor, as well as the Exter’s competitor, the Punch. It’s expected that other Hyundai CNG models like the Grand i10 Nios and Aura will soon follow suit with the dual-cylinder design.
