Mahindra Scorpio N received a zero-star rating by Australasian NACP why?

Mahindra Scorpio N’s safety rating took a nosedive from 5 stars in Global NCAP’s India-specific test to a dismal 0 in the stricter ANCAP test, mainly due to the mandatory inclusion of ADAS features missing in the Scorpio N.

Scorpio N’s ANCAP performance differs significantly from its Global NCAP rating due to the stricter test’s four key areas:  Child occupant protection, vulnerable road user protection, and safety assist. The SUV scored 44%, 80%, 23%, and 0% in these areas, with passengers safety and survival space.

The crash test comprises an off-set front and a full-width frontal crash, which emphasizes a collision scenario where only a portion of the vehicle’s front end makes contact with the barrier. Its frontal crash was done at 50kph, a side impact test at 60kph, and an oblique pole test at 32kph.

While Scorpio N itself might be similar across the market the safety picture is drastically different due to starkly contrasting NCAP test methodologies and criteria.
