Key specifications and images of the Kia EV5 were leaked before its global debut at the Chengdu Motor Show in China on August 25. The details of the upcoming Kia EV were revealed in a filing with the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

The EV5 has a single motor, 218 hp, 310 Nm, and 185 km/h top speed. Dual-motor AWD coming later. Kia expects EV5 to compete with ID.4, bZ4X, Ariya.
